Well this pair would spawn in the 125GA tank with 12 other discus. Three times made it to wrigglers but gotten eaten. Next moved the pair to an 20GA high tank, They spawned at least 10 times, sometimes eat the eggs, sometimes got to free swimming but would not attach to parents. Would remove sponge filter, lower water level, cover tank, still no attachment. The parents would sometimes eat the eggs or wrigglers and start all over again. One time I went away to Vegas for five days, laid eggs, went to wrigglers upon arrival home, woke up in the morning again all gone. Just gave up the last time they spawned, was able to get about five fry from the tank. Done the BBS thing all the time and they just died, except this one. Pics of the parents: http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m536/ladycebu62/DSC_1277.jpg

Also used ro water mixed with tap to obtain tds=84 ph= 6.8 water temp=83F. Daily 50% WC's. I did all the things that I could from info obtained here in SD....

I would cull too. I have a few that look like that but I used them to help with a grow out of a group of three. When the three get big enough ill play whack a mole with them.

hello

The problem with peppering should not be the albino gene (if the platinum is an albino), but rather the blue colour from which the platinum has it origins. Blue/turq colour is almost always a problem in pigeon breeding/cross.

I don't think this statement is accurate. but rather barless fish (non pb) tend to produce cleaner fry than the barred counterparts when crossed with a pigeon blood. There are also several other factors at play, namely the quality of the pb (an albino pb will have it peppering masked so you cannot tell if it is clean or not).

Very nice male platinum. Female showing too much peppering which may be why the juvi looks so dirty? I feel bad after your one successful spawn that you had to cull it. I understand it, just feel bad after all your work. Good luck next time.
