I call myself looking through the threads, so here is my issue. I bought a jager 300 watt heater for my 55 gallon, i know that is overkill but I actually bought it for my 110 I am going to set up. I have 6 juvi discus 3 to 3.5 inch and want to have temp set at 86 to 87 my heater is going to 86.9 which is fine ( I guess) down to 86 sometimes 85.8 before it goes back up. Is this normal?? and is this acceptable?? Thanks look forward to your responses...

invest in good heater like Finnex 300w or 500w with the controller Finex HC0800 or HC0810 and you don't have to worry about it anymore. It pay off. I do have regular glass heater but after got the finnex 500w and hc0810. I would go back to other heater. It will save you energy in long run.

If you are only swinging +/- 1 degree that is very good for a aquarium heater. IMO you are fine

ok thanks its been 85.6 my step son just called said it was 87.6 now, I think the one heater I have got stuck so had him unplug it the other is enough to heat it at the 86 temp. so maybe for an hour or so went up almost 2 degrees but going down now. having him keep eye on the temp and there temperment. Should it be fine with just that short of time and increase in temp. Just worried...thanks
