how much water

i am currently using a 55 gallon grow out with 6 discus, range 2.5 to 3.5. 3 GBR and 3 cory cats. Can I fill the the tank with less water til they get bigger? and how much 3/4 full, less than that? I can do bigger water changes and or more of them through out the day when I am home. Now with it being full, I vacuum the BB tank after the first feeding just to get the left overs out. I feed them 1 cube of BH frozen San Francisco bay brand, middle of day 1 cube of FBW and my own mix of BH at night. Sometimes I sneak another little treat in there. I then do at night a 60% WC. I was just thinking if I filled to 3/4 full i can do about a 75% WC or little less full I can do a 80-90%. Like to get yalls thoughts on this, I truly learn something everyday and appreciate this forum a ton!!!!! Oh yeah the reason for this is I am getting alittle high ammonia reading like .25 ppm or less

GBR? You sure can, but with the lesser volume of water I would up the WC to 2 75% daily depending on how you feed.

Ok I feed about 3 to 4 times but I dont overfeed. GBR (german blue rams)
