I'm planning my first planted discus tank. No, I'm not going to grow out my discus!

I've got my plants and 15 cardinal tetras so far, in the 100 gal tank. I'm looking for a suggestion for a 2nd school of fish (besides the discus!!!) I'd like the second school to be one that won't school with the cardinals. Am I hoping for too much? All suggestions welcome.

I love lemon tetras. I love rummynose and serpae tetras, too, but I don't know how they do in discus temps. I've never tried them with discus. Rummynose can be a bit sensitive to water quality and changes in parameters. Serpaes now come in a long-finned version that look awesome in a group.

I have 13 lemon tetras in my tank and they have done great. I would say they are more of a shoaling fish until I change the water and then they school for the first hour or so.

Now I think you are pulling my leg. I thought shoaling was a more correct term for schooling! You are pulling my leg, right?

I do plan on getting some German Blue Rams, but they don't really school, do they?

Well, I've now done some more reading about this and I have learned the difference. Thank you!

No but I have a 90 and got an Electric Blue Ram who completely terrorized my German Blue Ram until I got 4 more GBRs. Now there's barely any scuffling. They are all independent but have among the best individual personalities of discus companions out there. I have Lemon Tetras, Cardinal Tetras and Emperor Tetras as well which school nicely but lack character imo.
