Al... how long have you been feeding the Bio-Pigment Plus Australian Freeze Dried Blackworms to those RT? Would this food cause their blue to turn a little purple if fed only these FDBW? So far from the pictures (hard to tell in the video) their lines are showing nice red.

I've been feeding it to all my discus here at this point since We came out with it. But I alternate with the original and the spinach. I do not think it will affect the Blue base on these fish as I am using it.. Time will tell....but in the wild... pigments are ingested and that is where they get their reds and orange color from...so Basically...like all things in moderation I guess. I am using it to bring out the reds. I will say this...If I had a tank of red mellons, Fire reds,RGDs, or any other red fish.. I would be feeding this as my main food.:)

Just reading this again, don't want to come across as dogging the question, but I think its hard to say what will happen if you feed it exclusively ... I have seen red turqs and leos.. that have been stained reddish in their blue by frequent feedings of tetra bits... so I think you can over do any thing. Hope that helps.

No Sandy, I have a homemade surf and turf mix(BH and seafood) I feed them most of my discus as well... But I used to feed that BH and seafood mix as my main food.. now its my minor food... I am probably feeding my BHMix to them one feeding every other day... The rest of the time I alternate between original ,Spinach and Bio-pigment Freeze Dried Australian Blackworms.

Hi Sandy,
Thank you for trying them!

On your question though...I can't tell you that in all honesty. Growth depends on many factors besides food. I can tell you and have that I have personally reduced my use of BH extensively in my fish. I also can tell you that with Blackworm's high protein and fat content , they are an excellent growth food. I can also tell you that I have many customers that have noted great growth. My suggestion is to go thru my sponsor board and take a look at the feedback that I have been left....maybe drop those individuals a pm and ask them their experiences. Thats one of the great benefits of this community... a willingness to share info and help.

Thanks again,
al

Just my 2 cents. I feed FDBWs very heavily and included the bio-pigment plus variety as soon as it was available. I use it for all of my fish and I have a wide variety. I have been growing out 4 different types of rainbow fish which hatched in mid November. I have given them these worms (along with a variety of other foods) as soon as I could, starting with pulverizing them with a mortar and pestle and now just putting in cubes which they devour. Two other people received these same eggs and we have compared notes on growing them out. I am fully aware that many factors are in play for growth rate, etc but my fry are far and away bigger and more colorful than the others' fry. I don't have experience with BHM (beef heart mix?), but I am a big believer in FDBWs. That being said, I also believe in variety, but FDBWs are the backbone of my feeding regimen.
