Goal: The goal of this Tread is to document any juvenile Discus that I grow out. Only selected few will be shown, but group shots will be provided to see how the group is doing compare to the best in the group.

Current Grow-Outs stock:
5 Chicago Blues
2 Piwow Red Spotted Green Tefe
1 Piwow RT

Starting Size:
5 Chicago Blues - 1.5"-2"
2 Piwow Red Spotted Green Tefe - 2"
1 Piwow RT - 1.5"

Tank Size: 75gallon BB

Other Equipment Use:
1 - AC110
1 - 250w Aqueon Pro Heater
1 - Sponge Filter rated up to 80 gallon

Feeding Regime: 4-6 times a day.

Diet: Beef Heart Mix, FDBW, FDBH, Pro-Growth Super Beef Hear Flakes, Sera Discus Granules, & Tetra Color Bits
PH: 8.0

Water change Regime: 100% Daily with 20% in the morning and 80% at night

Update:
Here is a video taken during last night feeding of my new Beef Heart mix I recently made. I'm happy to say they are all enjoying a good meal together. The biggest is the alpha Chicago blue pushing a little over 5.5" (I did an eye view with a tape measure while feeding FDBW off my hand to estimate size).

Got to love how relax they are after feeding and WC. Color starting to really show. Love the halo they are developing too.

I added a new addition to the family 5.5" Piwow Cobalt. (Playing with Photoshop and this is what I end up with. Definitely need a nice pro Camera instead of my iPhone)

Thank you... I really love this cobalt the first I've own... I'm looking forward to the next six months too. If all goes well this one and my Chicago Blue could hit 7-8" or more... Got them on a strict high protein diet and 120% daily WC... Hopefully if all goes well I will have something amazing to update down the road...

Yep... I stop by to pickup my 4" Cobalt and saw this stud looking straight into my eyes and I knew he had to come home with me. A great eater and isn't picky or shy... Just the way all my other discus are... :D Glad you didn't pickup the fish up... ;)

Thank you... I'm really happy with their growth so far.. It's a lot of work but I've enjoy every min of it. I've learn so much growing these guys and the rest of the group in my main grow out tanks. The knowledge alone is well worth it. Seeing their growth is a plus... Anyway, I am determine to keep this up to get them up to 9-10". Hoping his growth does not slow down and continue to grow as he is now. Growing juvie to monster size is a job of it's own... lol... We'll see in another 8 months if he has reach this goal and belong in my Monster size thread.

Uggghhhh... this might be an awful way to describe why I like them so much but if you've ever been on a boat and by accident you flood the engine with a little too much gasoline so you wait and see the gas come out, see the cool turquoise, red, violet, etc colors plume to the surface... well, I think that color mixture looks so good and that's what I think of those blues... just freak'n incredible.

Thanks. Those two plus my jumbo Piwow RT are my three favorites in this tank. They are still growing so hoping 7-8"+ when they finish growing.

Today I finally move my new Piwow RT (Some strait line) 5.5" from Chicago Discus out of QT to my grow-out tank. Here's a shot of him still shy next to my Cobalt.

All my grows out are now hitting maturity and the males are now very territory. Always fighting and biting each other. My male Jumbo RT 7.25" is no longer the Alpha in the 75 gallon. He has been dethroned by the second largest more aggressive Piwow RT now pushing 7" himself. Here's the current top pecking order: RT below, Jumbo RT, Cobalt (6.75-7"), and Chicago Blue. The rest are much younger. Looks like I have a tank of male but hopping the new RT with some strait line is a female. She is less aggressive does not like to fight. The two RSG are growing well hitting 5.5-5.75" now. Both are not fighters either. We'll see how these two also turns out.

Thanks Elliot. I'm glad these guys are older now. Any younger and I would probably sell them as my focus is all on breeding my Piwow RT and don't have as much time to do big daily WC.

I end up selling all my grow out except the Chicago blue and my Piwow Cobalt. I kept the Piwow pair and sold the first Piwow proven male. Here is a video of the two remaining grow out that I'm keeping.

Sorry just fix the video. Try it now... I still have the jumbo RT... I don't consider him a growout since he has already hit 7". He recently got sick, went all dark, and just now starting to recover after a course of furan 2. He's in my 65 gallon tank until he's fully healthy again.
