Saw this info on stendker website
http://www.diskuszucht-stendker.de/gb/582,0,stocking-rate-other-fish,index,0.html

"Population density and companion fish in a discus aquarium

N B: A group of discus fish should contain at least 10-12 fish.

This recommendation should be adhered to absolutely, otherwise an animal night be excluded from the group and will not receive enough food.

Our recommendation for the population in an aquarium with a tank size 100 cm x 40 cm x 45 cm (c. 180 litres) "

any thoughts, comments

If you follow their stocking level, about 5 gal/fish, with 10-12 fish that size in a 50 gal, you'd never have bullying/pecking problem whatsoever. The only thing is it costs more $$ to buy 10-12 fish at a time.

12 fish in a 60 gallon ? plus they list 20 other tank mates too, thats nuts.

You might also find it of interest to read the info on the Stendker site related to water changes and acceptable nitrate levels. I am taking no position on either topic. Certainly some unorthodox advice.
