I currently have a 55g glass tank and im using a Aqueon T5 dual light with 2 colormax in it, the colors of my discuss is really showing up but i want a light that will make the tank really nice and water really crystal clear even though that my water is always clear and the scrubbing of the glass etc. is LED much better? or T5? can you guys make any suggestions? and if you can please post a pic of your tank with the light you are using would gladly appreciate it. I am trying to get some info first before buying a new one or maybe changing the colormax to a 67k or 10k light..

Thanks,

Arvin

The colormax bulbs are a good choice for color. The only thing you could do if you want more light in the tank is to get a 4 bulb T5 instead of 2. Or as you mentioned go with a 48" LED fixture with at least 45 to 60 LEDS. I am just not sure what angle to use on the LED whether 45 degree angle or? Some LED experts might help with that.

Can you post of picture of what you are refering to as showing the clear water and what your light is doing to it?

I think maybe a 4 bulb fixture could give you what you are looking for.

My T5 has 3 colormax and one 10k bulb.

I'm going LED in my tank. Call Nick at http://www.buildmyled.com He's a sponsor here and really knows his stuff.

Here is a thread with some pictures of his LED's: http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showthread.php?103892-Prototype-Spectrum-Pictures-Cast-Your-Vote!&highlight=nick+LED
