Well, my two Curipera Xs are laying eggs right now. They're in my 220 with everyone else looking on hoping/waiting to scarf up the eggs. At this point, I'm not interested in letting them try to raise them, but I am curious as to whether they're a real pair for the future. They are young, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they are both female. As luck would have it they are laying them on my Magna-scraper. I was thinking of moving it/the eggs just to see if I get wrigglers to determine if I have a pair. Is that feasible? If so, what would be the best situation to move them to. I could put them in the sump so the water conditions and temp would be the same. I am attempting to attach a video of them laying the eggs, but I am still having a hard time telling anything by just watching the egg laying process.

I believe you can remove the magnet and put it into another tank. To see if they are fertilized you will just need to wait and see if there are black spots on them...

Thanks, I hope it's a pair. I haven't really gotten bitten by the discus breeding bug yet, but that could change if the right ones pair up. In the past, it's always been pairs that aren't worth pursuing.

Joan,

They look like the CuriperaX that you recently got. Good luck to you:). Wait until you see wigglers to confirm the pair.

Duh, of course they are. I was thinking of something else when I posted this apparently. Fixed part of it, can I fix the title?

Thanks, sometimes I wonder about my brain!
Here are the eggs, now protected in the tank in a guppy breeder box.

Beutiful pair! I am just a beginner, but donīt you need water movement/oxigenation for the eggs to hatch?

Thanks, the sides of the container are open slats so that provides some water flow. I'd really just be happy just to see if they appear to develop at all at this point. They still look good this morning,

Funny, I have to be careful what I wish for though. I really have no plans for getting into breeding discus, but I can see myself getting sucked in. I have a hard time re-homing fish. Partly because of where I live, mostly because I like keeping my fish. I'm still sitting on 4 different types of rainbow fish that I've been growing out since mid November :p. Now the angelfish in that tank are laying tons of eggs. I've got to get them out of there. All the discus are chippy with each other today with all the action lately.
