I use a fluval fx5 with biomax and scrubbers for only bio filtration. Low maintenance and works great for my 120 gallon

I'm going to K1 Media bottles. Have 6 installed for about a month now. Just ordered more K1 from Josie today.

I'm guessing this is a display tank so you don't want much showing in the tank. +1 for Aquaclear filter(s). It's easy to set them up with whatever media you want. Sponge, ceramic media, Purigen, etc, etc.

+2 for Aquaclear filters. I really like mine anyway. What I did:

Toss the carbon bag.
Cut about 2/3 of the thickness off of the coarse foam block to make more room.
Add additional bio-media of your choosing (I used Matrix) in media bags to fill. I now have about 3-4 times the original amount of bio-media.
Add a foam pre-filter to the intake tube.

Rinse the pre-filter as often as you want. You can even use tap water as the pre-filter is being used for mechanical only, not bio. I rarely clean out the filter, and when I do I get almost nothing out of it. So filter maintenance is almost nothing. Filter is unobtrusive in the tank, quiet, low maintenance, and has a good flowrate. I like it.

I use Poret foam from Swiss tropical as walls for my K1 in my sump! Love it - just order it from Stephen at SwissTropical.com but I combine it with K1 also for crazy amounts of filtration.

+1 I use this system in my big tank. So basically I use aqua clears on my 120 and a sump with Poret foam and K1 on my 220. I have various other tanks with Poret foam filters as well-both hamburg mattenfilters and cube filters with jet lifters.

I got mine from Aquatic Ecosystems. I thought Josie at Chicago Discus sold it too, but I don't see it on her site.
