Filter media? and Plant choices?

Hello there friends.

I have recently setup a tank that I will be using for discus I have just finished cycling it and I am going to start getting plants and my question is

What media setup should I use and what are some good nice hardy plants for the tank (ive only had good luck with mondo grass and anachris)

My filter is the Fluval 406 it has 4 media compartments.

I like Marinepure media. It is more expensive than most, but significantly more surface area.
