Have any member use this kind of filters to remove nitrate ? If it is really true to what they advertise then I think it worth the money for the long run and time for huge tank.

Here is their link: http://www.aquaripure.com/index.htm

This article has a few different ways of dealing with nitrate using sulphur, the technology was first used in the removal of nitrates from public drinking water, then to a public aquarium them to personal saltwater aquariums. http://mars.reefkeepers.net/USHomePage/USArticles/SulphurDenitrator.htm

that was a good article. i never really cared for the Jaubert method though, it might agreeably be a bit more effective, though many have argued the counterpoint, but it's really just an overcomplication of a very simple easy concept. i think it's for hobbies who enjoy a more active role in their tank with lots of equipment.

at the most basic level though it's all just anaerobic respiration, and yes, it can work very effectively. my nitrates can come out of my tap at 5-15 ppm, depending on the day, but after a day or so of being in the tank after a large water exchange they drop to zero.

It would be nice to see the fish and find out if they were grown out with water changes every 6 months. This would be the first time we have seen discus grown out essentially with no water changes and a denitrating filter. I think we are all curious and should not jump down anyone's throats LOL!

Don't get me wrong, I wanted to know if the fishes in his avatar were rised with two / three at best WC per year. He confirmed it so that is it. I do not care what he does with his stuff.

I hope you can see this Tangerine Discus. Just over one year and 4 inches, picked up my discus about one year ago and that is when I started using the Aquaripure (Medium) with my 75G planted tank. Anyway, I am just posting my experience with this filter, not advertising. Chose to do with the info as you wish.
I raised Angel Fish before and always had problems with water quality, not with Aquaripure. I am lazy when it comes to cleaning the tank so I researched around and found the Aqauripure, tried, and now my Discus are laying eggs. One thing I know from my experience with Angel Fish is that the water needs to be very clean and pure to get the fish to spawn and I am sure Discus are even more of a challenge.

I'm liking this filter already. After all it's a good excuse to have vodka in the house :D
I wonder if you could tap into your regular sump or canister return line to flow water to the Aquaripure canister rather than using that small submersible pump it comes with?
