I have a mix set up and planted driftwood

Tank looks great. Is that drift wood OK with Discus? I may have read of Discus injuring themselves on the sharp pointed twigs. I am not sure if they are bad, I just want to alert you.

Congratulations, David.
Now you can make all the hard prep work and the substantial research you did - really pay off. Your tank truly looks great.
I'm sure you're pleased, and I'm happy for you.

Congrats! The discus all look great and should come out of hiding within a few days. Just remember not to feed them till at least tomorrow. I've learned to hold one cube of either FDBW or beefheart at the front of the tank for them. If they don't come out to eat it within a few minutes, I take it back out and toss it, wait a few hours and try again. Nothing worse then tossing in flakes or beefheart only to have them let it rot, huh?

Your driftwood should be fine, but Elliots makes a good point, watch for any signs that they are gouging themselves on the pointy parts. Mine are perverse and can manage to scratch themselves even on a perfectly smooth stump! I can only shudder to think what they'd do to themselves with pointy objects..lol.

I know you had mentioned in another thread today that your nitrates are 20ppm, and seeing the pic of the full tank, it does look like your substrate is probably leaching nitrates thanks to it being very new. To counteract that you could always purchase some duckweed, hornwort or frogbit and float it on the top. That stuff sucks up nitrates like nobodies bidness!

Duckweed will clog my overflow. But i was thinking pathos plants? Hornwort i can get also.
Would hornwort under sump with 32w pc light be ok?
