Hi,
I have a group of fish, some of them wild, that are in new arrival quarantine, I started prazi powder as a precautionary parasite treatment and a clearish white slimy film developed on all surfaces and started to clog the filter which I had to clean to get the flow right again, I have never used powdered prazi before is this normal? I dosed at a 1/4 tsp. dissolved in a little vodka per 40 gal, the ph is 7.8 and temp 84 deg.

Thanks,
Russ

Vodka? As in alcohol vodka?

Yes alcohol vodka, that's what the directions say to do, but only enough to turn the prazi to a paste.

Lol! I have never heard of that before, this is a first. Well I never used prazi powder before, but is sounds like maybe your vodka dosage was a little off?

I only used a little, enough to dissolve the prazi.

Yes you use a little bit of a non-polar solvent like alcohol or another solvent like DMSO to dissolve the prazi as it is not very soluble in water. I've never had the issue with the slime but weird things do happen when you add meds to a tank.
