I just read on Yahoo that because of the previous drought and the rainy Spring there has been excessive fertilizer run off and the tap water has elevated levels of nitrates!!

It could be true if you live near farm country. I would suggest just as a precaution to test your tap water daily for the next couple of weeks. I test mine weekly but I am not near farm country.

Pat, I do not have a reference. I read it on my Yahoo home page. I googled "High nitrates in Iowa tap water" and it came right up.
