I hey guys I have a chance to get a breeding pair of discus but would like to know your thoughts before I make the buy.

He's asking $300 for the pair.

What questions shoul ask him before I buy

What should I look for

And what strain are these

Sorry for so many questions just trying to do it right

If you are set on this pair ask the seller what strain they are. They almost look like wild fish but do not think so. Also ask if they have produced wigglers and raised fry successfully. If he says yes ask to see pictures of the parents with fry.

He said that they have produced but does not have pictures and they are alequer and curipera.

it's no up to you if it's worth and trusted source. for me i won't do it, no pic = no deal.

They look like crosses - of what, I'm not sure. IMO the two of them together are worth $150 - no more.

That's exactly what I told him and told him that I would buy them not for a pair price I had said maybe 75 for each and he said he might not even sell them. So thanx you guys I won't be buying them.
That's why I love this place so much good advice

Based on what? I have seen throwbacks that are way further along than F3 that looked exactly like that.

LOL, I get fish that look like that all the time from some of the wierdest combinations. The pair is just Ok, not worth the $300.00 but I have seen worse. $150 seems about right if they are proven. Trouble is you will get fish that look just like them, average. The only thing I can think of that MIGHT make them worth a bit more if they were proven and good foster parents, but I don't think your at that level of the hobby yet?
