The information contained on this board is fabulous! Now I have a question that may sound odd for some of you. I put together my first Discus tank back in 1972 - there really weren't any "strains" just what we referred to as browns, greens and blues. With all due respect to the breeders worldwide I really preferred the old school fish. Does anyone know a reliable souce for these? I saw Hans had some strains that were close, the Alenquer and Santarem. Any advice (other than paying through the nose for wilds...)

I am not sure what you mean by "old school fish". Wilds are named after the region/lake/river they come from. Classification has become more detailed and often unclear over the years, but more useful I think that the old labels browns, greens and blues. See this list from a German website (scroll down to "Symphysodon" to see the varieties of wild discus):

If you want wilds, you can get excellent quality fish from two sponsors here: John (Snookn21) and Mark (Discus Origins). Hansī Alenquers and Santarens are domestic, not wild.

Great Link, DiscusBR! By old school I was probably referring more to myself and my recollection of what we had to choose from at the time! I'll look into the sponsors you cited. I appreciate your help and patience - it appears I have alot of catching up to do!
