120 planted Discus tank Journal

Alright just a little update here so the piece of driftwood started drying out and cracking so I guess the DSM is out.So I add some pot ash and dolomite to the bottom of the tank.I then mix 3lbs of red clay in water,tell it dissolved.Them mixed it in 40lbs of top soil and and capped with Black sand.

I found these 2 regs for sale both are dual stage.The left one is an Airgas. Right one is Airco stainless steel.Which one should I buy?They are $45each.Also if one of these are the are the right one for me what all fitting do I need to buy.Bubble counter,solenoid and what not?I am going with a ph controller. I am going to put a UV sterilizer hooked up on the inlet side of my 350 magnum it is going to run from the sump back to the sump also will have my co2 diffuser on the out put side .the tank it self will have a mag drive 9.5.

Sump and 125 grow out never shut down.This way has to be the most stable water conditions because the new 75gls in slowly mixed in over a half hour or since both tanks sharing the sump have a 8 time turn over rate. Still undecided on all the above for now.I have a few members from our local club that make their own beef heart mixture.Also I have several 2lbs flats of blood worms lot of flake food.w/c at least twice a week depends on par.8 small discus in 235gls with all that Pista might only need 2 per week but that remain to be seen.Time will tell.I am going to grow them out tell they pair and then I will pull the first pair and put the in the bottom 75gl and when there is a second pair it will be time to put both pair up stairs in my planted show tank(that I an still working on).I do not want to breed discus more than once if at all.I just want a pretty planted discus tank.

I have not tried CO2 yet but I think I will add it this weekend. Do you plan on more plants? I do not know if I would go for the expense of CO2 and possible problems with that amount of planting but it is your tank and it is certainly not the wrong thing to do.

I but when I shut do the 2 emporer400 my wife fell in love with the quit.So I went with 2 canisters filter instead.The magnum350 and the CSF500 MOD.

I love it. It is very nice. Can I ask if this is a 5' wide 120 or is it the 4' x 2'? I am considering getting the 5' wide but I am short and won't be able to reach the bottom of the tank!

I have a magmun 350 that runs my 25watt UV sterilizer and my Cerge style reactors and I have a Odyssea CFS 500 which is the best filter for the money hand down.here are a few link

I have a cfs500 as well prob the best bang for the buck canister filter I made a 2 foot spraybar on mine.
