I am thinking of putting a UV Sterilizer onto my tank.
Is this benificial in keeping bacteria and flagellates in check??

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think the UV sterilizer has any effect on the flagellates?
Most pathogens/algae that remain suspended in water can be controlled with UV. BUT there is the issue of water volume, flow rate/Dwell time in the UV, and UV wattage.

I have one, and it has really "cleared" up my water.

I have a UV and it definitely helps in terms of making the water 'clear'.
I'm selling mine because the tank is down for now. Same as in the article, but shipping to England might not work!
