Hello there everyone! I'm pretty new, and am now in the process of trying to educate myself about discus keeping. I don't have a tank yet, but am doing my homework, and getting things organized. I went to the LFS and bought API's 5 in 1 test strips to do a quick test of my water. I'm not sure if my water straight out of the tap will be good enough, or if I'll need to do further filtering of some sort. I was hoping to hear what everyone thought of my numbers.
Here's what I got testing the tap water.
Immediate Test.................................. After 24 Hours Sitting in Glass
Water Temp = 81.6F ................................. Water Temp = 80.4F
GH = 120 PPM(mg/L).................................. GH = 120
KH = 240 PPM(mg/L)................................. KH = 240
Ph = 7.5............................................... ... Ph = 7.5
Nitrite = 0 PPM(mg/L)................................. Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 0 PPM(mg/L)................................ Nitrate = 0
I also did a quick search online for TDS in my area and apparently we are running about 310. Any advice about my water parameters would be very much appreciated. Thanks so much in advance for your help.
