hello
i have some old (dead) live rock laying around. can i use it in a freshwater tank? can i use it in a discus tank? im concerned it might disolve or make the water hard.

appreciate any advice and shared experiences. thanks!

It would increase KH and GH also discus get spooked easily and would really hurt themselves on the rock. I don't think the rock would work, look at manzanita driftwood that works great.

I'd avoid it.. Don's suggestion on Driftwood is a better one. If you must have rocks, try to find round ones, no sharp edges and something thats pH neutral .

just as a follow up. I ordered some manzanita driftwood, took the dead rock out and it looks great.
