API stress coat has something to help slime coat on fish. If your Discus are injured in fighting or scraped by plants or rocks it might be better. I use both at different times. If you use PRIME you need a SeaChem test kit for ammonia, other kits do not work.

I use prime, I get off Amazon for 11 bucks for 250ml (think thats right) free 2 day shipping. I use it guess cause I have always used it and I never had an issue..

Use seachem safe, nothing comes close to it's value besides sodium thiosulfate crystals.

So it all comes down to prime or safe?

What's the difference?

safe is the powdered version of prime, dollar for dollar treats ridiculously more water than prime. I dose 1/8 tsp of safe for my 75 gallon (I have 1 ppm chlorine in my tap water). 1 kilogram of safe lasts me almost a year of daily water changes for $25 (from kensfish)

Ok I'll order safe then!

1 last question.. Does safe or prime increases your ph? I tried using API stress coat and it brigs up my ph from 6.8 to 7.4ish

We started with API Stress Coat, then switched to Seachem Prime last January so we could use Seachem Purigen in our canister filters. Our first kilo of Seachem Safe arrived in today's shipment from kensfish.com, so that's what we'll be using from now on.

A kilo container of Seachem Safe states it treats 200,000 gallons of water, for $25.00.
A 500ml bottle of Seachem Prime states it treats 5,000 gallons of water, for $11.00.

So i also bought the aqueon water changer so i would just dump in my tap water straight to my tank since it has a stable ph of 6.8. I'm tired of filling up those 5 gallon water dispensers.

Should i mix the solution in a small container before dumping it in or i can just pour the powder straight in the tank?

Add it to the tank before adding the new water for the total volume of water not the water added.

Ok i got it! Not feeling well today because i just lost 2 of beautiful ones in 1 night. A leopard and striped pigeon! Sucks so bad! Perfect round shaped and fins too! They started swimming upside down last night and died tonight! That fast!

Does fluctuating ph cause stress? That's why i wanted to use seachem because i read that this product doesn't rebound ph.
