Bought a pound and after only two days they seem to be mostly dead or close to it... Have been rinsing nightly and keeping refrigerated.

How did they come in? If came in bad, you will lose a lot. Also make sure you are rinsing them in de-chlorinated water...Bill

The worms do best if not too thick in your container. Otherwise worms on bottom usually die off. Keep them if you can in a larger container spread thinly...Bill

Zach, that's a blackworm eating leach and very common in orders. They don't hurt anything and I just pick them out with a fork when I rinse the worms.

They are all dying because they are too thick in the container suffocating the bottom worms. You also stated you rinsed with tap water and that kills them too. Before you order worms again I would suggest getting some worm keepers from Dan at CBW. You need at least 4 to properly keep 1 lb worms alive. They should be rinsed first couple days for as long as it takes to get clear water, then once a day after. I've kept worms alive for over two weeks doing it correctly.

Those worms look gross toss them and start over, did you get them straight from Dan? If not buy directly from him, get 4 worm keepers for a pound of worms, he should set you up with a deal with the keepers. I rinse mine with cold tap water twice a day but my tap water is pretty soft and very low chlorine, I do add a pinch of Safe in the water. You only need 1/4" of water covering the worms too. This keeps my worms alive for about 2 weeks plus a few days.

Just to put it out there,I always rinsed mine in tap, but,I stored them in chilled aged water.I think you had too many, too thick in your container.

Did you buy from Dan? I agree with every one above-You have to split them up in 2 or 3 containers. Do not rinse with tap as chlorine will kill them. I rinse with cold R/O water. My fish are addicted to every thing Dan sells

u can rinse with cold tap water. but when filling up use RO or cool tank water. and like other said. dont pack them. get a container/tank or whatever that has a wide width that way they can spread out and have room. rinse whenever the water looks dirty. it varies. somedays u can get away with once a day sometimes 5...sometimes i dont need to rinse for a week. and keep somewhere COOL. heat will kill them. during the winters. i put them outside. and i keep them a month at a time with no problems. based on that pic, it looks like they died from the heat.
