Are hatchet fish good tank mates for discus fish? Recently I have seen some marble hatchet fish at a L.F.S

I have them in with my Heckels. Complement the top of the water column, but they will JUMP!...keep those lids closed...Bill

I have Silver Hatchets. Not only is my tank covered but I have Saran Wrap over my HOB filters. My tank is 84 degrees, I do not know how they will do at sustained higher temps.

I have silver hatchetfish as well, and they are fine with my discus, and are at 82F. The discus don't bother with them, and none of them have ever jumped out, even when the lid has been off for extended periods when I have been doing maintenance/wc's. Although one just recently "disappeared" when I was away of vacation for three weeks... Nowhere to be found.

Yes, but they are big jumpers. If your tank is not 100% covered and if you have cats they will become feline snacks :) When I had them long time ago they would disappear during WCs

Hi Ganesan, I combined your two threads. Really no need to create two threads on the same subject. You can always bump the thread by posting in it. There is also a search function in the upper right corner of the browser window you might find useful.
