Ok so first thing my discus are not showing any signs of problems they are eating well and doing great. 2I have not used any treatments thus far. I have a 40 gallon column tank with 5 2 inch discus in it. Water is changed every other day about 30%. The tank has been running for 8 months now had the discus for about a month and its barebottom. I use tap water with prime in it the nitrates and nitrites are good ph is 7.2 water is soft. The discus are the only things in the tank and they are fed store bought frozen beefheart cubes twice per day. My problem is not really in the tank it was found on the tank lid in the water the filter was throwing up. I found this black worm looking things that move around like actual worms but have legs that look like hairs all down their body and antenna on one end. They weren't in the filter or the water just th the underside of the tank lid. So I saved a couple to see what happens and rinsed the filter and lid off with tank water of course. Now this tank has had a problem with harmless nnematodes since ive had it I bought it used with cichlids and when I found homes for them discovered hundreds of the nematodes under the gravel. Cleaned all that up threw away the gravel and used boiling water to clean the tank. I even bout a new filter. I still see some occasionally but the fish enjoy eating them so its not a big deal. The main thing are these new worm things. Im worried theyll harm my fish but I did get one on me and it didnt seem to do anything but anyway I cant post pics ffom my mobile so ill try and get on my computer and post one. Thanks for your help.
