Why do breeding cones have a lip on the bottom? Are there any sizes or brands that are better then others? Help a newbie who is trying to learn understand. Thank you.

The lips are there primarily to catch wrigglers that prematurely break free from the cone and would otherwise fall to the bottom of the tank. The thought I think is it's easier for the parents to retrieve them and return them to the cone. There are lots of options for cones, but if you want something that's dressier than the run of the mill cones check out Barb's cones...she's a sponsor here.
