And here I am, totally out of space for another tank for the next few months. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v470/tazfreeatlast/stuff/Smileys/cry2.gif

/me considers putting the bookcases in storage & replacing with a rack of empty tanks currently sitting in storage...

Well, you how it is with Endlers! I will still have plenty in a few months, that's for sure! Even if I sell out now, I will keep many pairs and you know how many they will produce in a few months. They sure are pretty little fish aren't they?

Absolutely Barb. We have red top yellow swords & black bars separated in various tanks right now. I'll contact you some time this weekend to order some. :D

Dirtyplants,
They're endlers livebearers, which are virtually nonexistent in the wild due to environmental damages in their origin. Class n are actual wildcaught from Venezuela, or true bloodlines of wildcaught from Venezuela, pre-wipeout. They're the purest possible that haven't been crossbred with other livebearers (guppies, mollies, platies, etc.).
Check out number 28 at the link below for some similar to what Barb is selling.

Hi Barb - I can't pm yet but I'd like bag of Green Endlers for my discus tank... What would postage run to 60540?

Disgirl
09-05-2013, 03:32 PM
Chris, I would use the med. flat rate USPS box which is $13. I use breather bags to ship them so they would do just fine for a few days in the mail. For a bag of Lime Green Endlers I will charge $25 for anywhere in the US, that is for the fish, shipping and my expert packing.

David, thanks for helping with the Adrian pics, and description of what an Endler is.

Hi Skip, how are you doing as a married man?? I don't think I want any more now, but thanks anyway. If I change my mind I could always get them in person from you at NADA. I have two varieties now and am up to my knees in both. They really like our hard alkaline water here. They are just such pretty and tiny fish I can't help but really enjoy them. They are a colorful and easy contrast to my huge discus and angels. So very easy to care for compared to the big cichlids!

Barb, I may take some of these for my dwarf cichlid tanks if they can take 82F temps. Coming from Venezuela I'd guess they're slightly more tolerant of temps than CA livebearers. Do you have any pics of them? What are you feeding them?

Ryan, please check out post 5 in this thread. David posted where I got them and what they look like. As far as I have seen, they take temps from 60-90 degrees. I keep mine at room temp, winter 70, summer 74. They breed more males when cooler temps. They eat anything, I feed the left over powdery foods from my discus dry food containers, once or twice a day. WC only once a mo. or so.

Related but a totally different fish. They interbreed with guppies and lots of beautiful hybrids have been "made". But my Lime Greens are from the original wild fish in a part of Venezuela that is just polluted water now. Not many left in the wild of this variety. They are small and the females look drab like female guppies. But the males are fantastic! Males are 1" or less, females can be 2". They produce so many fry it is almost hard to believe.

What size tank would be appropriate for 12?
J

Disgirl
09-07-2013, 03:13 PM
J, a 10 gal tank would be perfect until you have hundreds then move up to a 20. But 12 would be fine even in a 5 gal. tank for awhile. They sure aren't like discus in their requirements. I had 2 prs. in a 4 gal tank and in a few months had to take them and all their babies out and into a 10 where they all are now, at least 100 of them, many are 1/2" or less.

I am sending boxes of Lime Greens to several people tomorrow, Monday Sept 9. I still have fish left for a few more people if anyone else is interested. $25 for a box of at least 12 Lime Green Endlers, including postage, to anywhere in the US. I am using USPS med. flat rate boxes, the fish will be in breather bags, will be fine in the mail for several days. Just do not let the boxes sit in the sun when delivered. You should plan to meet the postal carrier. I will send tracking # when box is mailed. Paypal accepted. Thanks,

Mine were devouring ground flake food after about 30 seconds in the tank. I noticed them picking at stuff in the water column so I put a little in and they went crazy. It's probably the fastest I've seen fish shake off shipping stress.

Yep, sure is. Most of the males have black somewhere. Females are drab, just plain grey or gold. But oh how colorful the males are. They live in sewage ditches in Venezuela, they are tough fish.

Got mines today! Funny, had a hitch hiker in the air bubble of the bag. It was a mosquito. Smashed it in the bag, since we don't want it to be an invasive species in Ca! All the fish were alive. The females were pretty thin. I wondered if they dropped fry in the bag since I do see extra frys in the count. They all are eating like pigs. I just fed live bb. Thanks Barb.

Thank you for showing pics of the fish I raised in a small pond this summer. They show no signs of stress do they? I sure like these little fish, so small, tough and colorful. Now that everyone who ordered has received their boxes of fish, quite a few, I can admit that I have never shipped fish before. So you can imagine how nervous I was. But I read how to do it and just got to it. I feel proud. Too bad discus aren't as easy to ship.

They did great. Luckily, tiny fish are really simple to ship. I ship all my cichlid fry in breather bags via Priority Mail just like that and only had losses a handful of times (and it was always when sending fish to Bugman -- sorry, Larry!). Cold weather is a different story, though. I usually only do the Priority thing through the summer.

Good to hear my fish are enjoying life in your tanks guys. I have an Electric Blue Jack Dempsey who is growing and will soon be large enough to take care of excess Endlers. They are so prolific I will be forced to do it. Right now I have a 25 gal tank of just beautiful males and will keep adding to it. Mine are also multiplying. I was afraid to place them into my tank thinking they were so small, but they are fast and can hide in the plants. My big male Brilliant Blue who has been a non eater since the day I got him, I think is feasting off the fry. He has not eaten anything from me for about three weeks now, but he is not loosing weight. He also looks pretty good. This is my idea of self sustaining. I wish I could get the tank to run all by itself with out any aid from me.
