In black acrylic and dark substrates, do all pigeons no matter how fully grown they are, pepper?

Most people say yes, but honestly, to me it depends on the fish itself. I've seen PB based discus have peppering in a light colored tank, while some having none in dark tanks................

Yes, but it can depend on which spot it considers as its hiding/safe spot. Mostly bg is considered but some case specific areas of the tank..
I would think it depends on the genetics/quality of the pigeon-based fish. I have my white pigeons in a 55 with a black background and tan bottom. A couple show black fins and some black marks down their nose, but three of them have zero peppering at all. They've been in this tank for a couple months now.

Nope! I now keep all of my pb's in tanks with black backgrounds with no peppering. I do have white sand substrate, but also have amazon swords which make things a lot darker and add some atmosphere to the tank...also gives them nice hiding places..and still no peppering.

It's almost the same question as do Discus (none Pigeon) put up their stress bars in a "dark" tank more as in a "light" tank.
It's a question, you can't answer. Most of my tanks are light colored, here I see hardly any "pepper" on the Pigeons
