Just thought of an idea while at work, I have a spare 55 tank so I was thinking of putting that underneath my stand for my 75g used as a aged water for my water changes. so ill have a air stone and a heater and then when I do my wc ill just pump that water into my main tank. Is it better than using straight tap water? I dont have wilds discus or anything

if I had a spare 55 I would put water in it and then discus!! lol...it is better to do that rather than straight out of tap.

That should be easier for you and ok with tap water as long as you have been using it for your wc. Not sure what is your set up and where is your tank. Here is a CRAZIER idea with caution IF YOU HAVE A SHELF OR PLACE TO PUT 55G ON TOP OF YOUR 75 THEN JUST DO GRAVITY WATER CHANGE NO NEED PUMP :) .

Here's another idea. Since you can fit the 55 under your tank, how about using it as a sump? I'd also use it for more fish before using it for aging water. If you have space restrictions, then maybe, but if not and you really want to age your water I'd just get a Brute and use the tank for something more exciting.

I think your idea is excellent. You drain water from your display tank, then use the aged, already heated water from underneath and fill it up. Simple. Then you just fill up the 55 gallon with cold water, and let the heater heat it up overnight. Then, you always have 55 gallons of ready water in case you need to do an emergency w/c. I started out with 45 gallon brute cans, and now I have a 200 gallon water storage tank! LOL. We'll see how long it takes you to ramp up! ONly kidding. I think you've got a good idea, go with it.

If you are going to have a pump in the 55 use it to agitate the water for aging instead of an air stone. Save the money, one less plug and the aging process can be reduced from 24 hrs to 6-8 hrs.
Check tap Ph and tank Ph then on first WC with power head check 55 tank Ph every 3 hrs, you will see it equilibrate fairly quickly. Still use Prime before the WC.
