Hi Guys,

Since Discus require so many water changes, it can work out pretty expensive in terms of treating the water every time with something like AquaSafe.
Is there any way around this?

Cheers

If your water only has chlorine added, you can de-gas it overnight with an air stone. If it also has chloramines added, you must use a conditioner. The only other option I know of is to sink a well . . .

Check with your water company. The additives change where I live, depending on the month. Here they add both chlorine and chloramines, except for a couple months in the summer when they only add chlorine. It's always safest to use a conditioner.

I'm with Bill on the SAFE if you need it. I'd ask your water department what all they ever use to treat your water. After they give you the list if chloramine isn't on the list I'd specifically ask them about it anyway just to be sure.

Probably Sam, but you should start a new thread. If you go into the correct category; Discus Basic for Beginners, General Discus Discussion, or Disease you'll see a large blue Post New Thread button near the top on the left to start the process. It's not as scary as it may seem, go for it.
