This is my 4 ft pseudo planted tank for my discus and cories, which has been running for 3 weeks already.
The parameters are stable, with 0 ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, and ph of 7.
It was setup in 1 week, after migrating plants and fishes from a 3 ft 6 years old fully planted tank.
The setup is planned for easy maintenance and easy view of the inhabitants.
Substrate: Smooth white pebbles
Reason: Reduces peppering on discus, very easy to vacuum, and cories are pleased with them.
Plants are in bonsai pots with gex soil, so they can be shifted around easily.
This tank is mostly covered with white pebbles so that the cories have maximum foraging space.
There are about 40 cories in the tank, including generations of sterbais, some very old bronze cories, schawtzi, elegans and young adolfoi.
The plants get lights from 4 t5 tubes, 7 hours daily.
Tank get 70% water change 3 times weekly as the discus are still growing. This will be reduced once discus are at leash 6 inches.
The frequent water change is also causing the cories to start spawning again.
And yay, my discus has grown since i have first gotten them 2 months ago.
