My son is ditching his community tank for a cichlid tank, I make beefheart for my discus. Do cichlids eat beefheart as well? Just wondering if I need to make a little more with my next batch. Just currious never had any of them before.

South American and Central American do eat beef heart, I wouldn't feed them to African though

Big no no with africans.cant handle the protien as most are vegitarians,or if they do it some, way to much to handle with beefheart.

That is not a yes or no question. Do you know how many different kinds of cichlids there are? Some will eat beefheart and some won't. Discus are cichlids.

I wouldn't say it's necessary for most cichlids. Central and South Americans will mostly be fine on a good quality pellet as a staple.

Is there a cichlid forum like this one that he can go to and get some information before he jumps in?

I am a member of MonsterFishKeepers. Don't let the name throw you off -- you don't have to keep monster fish to post there. They have sections for all types of cichlids.
