I have not shipped before was hoping for local pu, but I can look into it. I'm in Wesley Chapel, FL. Two or 3 are on the larger size would like to get what I'm asking for I paid $90 last year for each of the Raffelasia, the others where around $75 but I can go about $55. If I ship you will be responsible for the shipping.

Man, the albino and the two turks look pretty nice. I'm about three hours away. It's tempting...

LKSDiscus

They are really pretty, the turks are female and love to lay eggs with the right male and environment could be a good investment. The albino is my favorite. IF you need me to ship I have a friend that ships his fish and he said he would help send them.

Yea the lighthouse makes a good breeding post, they lay eggs there all the time. But I'm keeping it, kind of going to go with the same theme in my reef tank.

Due to the high cost of shipping its not really feasible to ship. Sorry all I really don't mind shipping but the cost is outrageous unless someone can give me some pointers on where to go. I have tried Fedex, UPS, and USPS. Again thanks for the interest.

It costs an arm and a leg, I know. If someone wants to buy them who does a lot of shipping with FedEx, you could use his account number and it will only cost an arm. The buyer pays shipping so if they are so if you have someone who wants to buy the fish and is willing to pay the shipping cost you won't be out any money. Of course, the seller guarantees live arrival. If something were to happen and the fish died en route you wouldn't be in the position to replace the fish so I guess you'd have to refund their money. They'd take the hit on the shipping.

Thanks for the advise. I have a few people who are interested in the fish, but the shipping is costing arm, leg and then some. So is anyone interested lending out their FedEx account? Also trying to figure out the weight and size of a box as that is what they go by. I have 8 Large Discus any guess on what I would the weight be and would it be better to do two boxes vs. the one?

"Of course, the seller guarantees live arrival. If something were to happen and the fish died en route you wouldn't be in the position to replace the fish so I guess you'd have to refund their money. They'd take the hit on the shipping." this sound fair to me.

Shipping large fish is expensive. My last few boxes have been between $120 - 180 which is why I don't order many discus. Some of the big fish sellers have special rates with FedEx/UPS but most will not. I have an account and have shipped may fish, but I still pay at least $100 per box any time I overnight something.

I have a FedEx account to and I've never shipped a box that cost less than $135. I don't do enough shipping to get a larger discount. But she is selling the fish for a song. If someone wants them, just having an account will lessen the cost some. Some people ship a lot for business. If a person like that wanted to buy the fish the savings would be greater.

For Adult Discus I ship in 4mm bags tripple bagged. Figure on 1 1/2 qts of water at 3 lbs a bag. Standard fish box is around 16X16X16 although they vary some.

I think airport to airport is the easy route and may be cost less :). It will be faster too :)

I'm getting quote for Pennsylvania around $250 for a 40lb box so $135 is much better. How can someone get account?

or u can try to talk to someone who works for ups/fedex. cuz i think employees get something like 50% discount. then just pay them a few bucks for their time. or like others said. use someones account that ships a lot.

and shipping is ridiculous. its actually depends on the size of the box and not so much on the weight. u be surprised how much difference an inch makes. i just shipped out a show piece driftwood to PA. i thought the box was 52x19x19. i got quoted for $130. upon arriving and they measured it. the box was actually 53x20x21. just a couple of inches bigger...so instead of the $130 i got quoted. that extra few inches. boosted the price up to $216. so def get the smallest box u can. weight wont matter much.

Have you thought about delta cargo airport to airport shipping? That should be way cheaper than Fedex...

You are absolutely correct. Airport to airport is by far the best way. I didn't think of it because I live out in the sticks and airport to airport is not an option for me.

It doesn't sound fair to me, particularly since you are new to shipping. If you ship, do you have access to oxygen?

Since I've haven't done shipping before I decided to opt out and sell locally. I've sold 3 already, and tomorrow another two. So I will be down to 3. I felt it was better on me and the less stress for the fish. I figure if I didn't sell locally then it was not meant to be. I really appreciate the ones who wanted me to ship but since I've never did it before these are to beautiful of fish to experiment with so I decided to opt out.
