Been doing a bunch of testing lately on my discus with my new microscope. I think I found skin fluke, just want to confirm this before I try any type of treatment.
I created this slide today from a slime scraping from the side and around gils of a discus that hasn't been doing all that well this past year. He has been thinning out, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

What is your magnification please? How close to the gill was the scrape?

Thanks

That was taken at 200x
I found about 5 on the slide. While holding the fish on his side I dropped the slide flat against him by accident. I then slid it across his gil cover and up the side of the body.
From what I have seen in photos this looks more like a skin fluke(dactylogyrus) than a gill fluke.

Thanks for this info, from what I have seen in the past I tend to agree with your suspicion here.

That Is definitely a fluke.

Ok im going to give you some advise on how I would treat this but first I'm going to post a warning to new and old people not to go purchase the medication that I'm going to recommend and start treating there discus because its thin or they suspect flukes. This person identified an issue with there fish and properly under a microscope identified the problem. I would do a treatment of De-los for 30 days on all your discus and keep things in and around the tank clean and sanitary. This is not the salt treatment or metro thats gets thrown around this Forum like its cotton candy this is a very affective treatment for skin and gill flukes.

If you would like more info feel free to PM me
