First off, Hi I'm new here!

I have a breeding pair of Discus in my community tank and they have spawned for the last few months every 8 days or so.

I'm now building a setup to move them into where I hope to successfully hatch and grow the eggs along. My question is shall I use a sump with the tank I wish to use so I can do easier water changes and increase the water volume??

I'm new to breeding so any ideas are welcome!!

Thanks

Chris

Personally I don't really like them in a breeding tank. I prefer a 29 gallon tank with a sponge filter. The outside of the tank painted white except for the front. Set it to 82 degrees and change 50% of your water daily. This has been the basic formula for about 40 years. It works extremely well.

Thanks John, could you recommend a sponge filter??

Do you keep both adult fish in the breeding tank after 24hours of spawning?

Hydrosponge 4. I leave both parents int he tank until they prove to me that I need to do something different.

Great thanks, do people condition the female first on her own???

My fish are around a year old and produce approx 100 eggs a spawn?

I don't. Just put them int he tank and give them the best care you can. 100 is not really a lot but they are not that old. Keep in mind that most pairs will mess this thing up several times before they get it right so you have to be patient.
