Just a thought. I have a 100 gallon ageing barrel that I use with a heater and powerhead on 24/7. I only use about 1/2 of the water a day then refill it. Is this ok or should I use a smaller barrel? Is there a limit of days that you would store water? My ph out of tap is 8. When aged for 24 it drops to 7.4 and stays.

I rarely completly empty mine, and Ive had no issue.I like to doit it once a month or so to wipe down, depending on your water you might want to doit it more.

I have two fifty gallon containers and I empty them every water change and leave them empty for a day or two and then refill them twenty four hours before I do a water change. Hope this helps.

I have a 200 gallon container for aging water. I use anywhere from 50 gallons to 150 a day. Sometimes none at all. I haven't cleaned it or wiped it down in 3 years, and it's still very clean inside. That's because of the chlorine and chloramines in my city water. I do circulate water in it, though. I only add conditioner to my aquariums.
