Nelson Mandela

Our beloved Nelson Mandela has passed away. He made me proud to be a South African. He was a giant among men and a role model for all. His legacy lives on. Rest in peace Tata Madiba.

He used to live around the corner from me when I lived in Maputo. Shocked us when he walked out of his front gate one morning surrounded by guards and said "Hello." The AK-47's made us stop. The sight of Nelson Mandela made our jaws drop. The fact that he said hello made us stupid. And when he stepped into his car and was driven away, we screamed liked school girls.
Just sharing a memory.

May his soul rest in peace....i have read his lengthy,but beautifully written book ; "A Long Walk to Freedom",and recommend it to anyone...one of the few books i like.
