View Full Version : Power Out again #2
I got a notice they'll cut power again just a month after last PowerOut (http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showthread.php?110437-power-out&highlight=)and this time is from 12/20 11pm - 12/21 7am. Last night temp dropped down in the low 40 degree and heaters work hard to keep the right temp (i know eastcoast colder than this). I'll get battery air pump out and will see how it goes in few days.
Merry Christmas everyone,
Tony

Can you heat water during a power outage? If yes, then you can always add warm water if it begins to cool too much. And I think you're doing the right thing by getting batter power to power an airstone. Very important. Good luck~

Sure. I need some big adult discus for my set up :)
Run a long extension cable to the nearest house with power. Psst. They will be sleeping and not even notice.

We used to live where frequent ice storms knocked out our power at least once a winter. What I would do with my discus tank(s) was wrap them in blankets, sleeping bags, quilts, heavy winter coats and leave a small opening at the top for air to enter, set the battery air stone going, and leave the tank alone till power came back on, sometimes more than a day or two. The tanks never got cold, and the fish did fine. Good luck!

from our sponsors kensfish. it runs good and has 2 outlets which requires 4x D batteries. I leave 1 in main tank and other in sump.
alright back running normal. displace tank drops to 80 degree, tanks in garage drop from 75-77 degree depends size of the tank. Thank you A. Tan let me borrow extra air pump and everyone' s wishes, comments, and suggestions.
Merry Christmas everyone!!!
