I normally start adding a fine fry dry mix at around 7 - 10 days fs and at 16 or so I will add FDBW they take a while to work out what it is and 21 or so I will start with a bit of BH just a little till they start feeding properly on it. I normally pull them around the 3 weeks but varies sometimes.
In relation to the losses have you treated for flukes?

How much water are you changing? I would start putting some BH in the tank for them to peck on.

Daily water change of 25%

Increase that to between 50 and 75% and you will probably stop losing fry. If you are feeding them enough then you are not changing enough water.

If the parents seem to be doing fine I would leave them in for another week or so. If you see the parents acting like they wqant to spawn again pull the fry as quick as you can.

Properly growing fry takes 2 things. Lots of good food, and lots of big water changes. As long as the fry are healthy that is all it takes.

Lots of good food, and lots of big water changes.

And the absolute worse thing you can do is to give them lots of good food, and skimp on the water changes. This is the most common rookie mistake. Hey it's easy to feed them lots and feed them often, but it's a PITA do do 2x a day major water changes, so I will just go with a, but not b.

Does anyone ever feed micro worms to young fry?
