Battery operated air pumps!!!

Hello SD..

Please suggest me some nice and efficient battery operated air pump as soon as possible. Since Midwest weather is facing record low and power out in certain areas to scare us.

Penn Plax Silent Air B11, they are battery operated but also plug in so if the power is interrupted it comes on automatically.

I also use Reliance Controls plug in power failure alarms so if the power goes out while sleeping I can plug everything into the generator.

Thanks judi, is this a regular battery or rechargeable internal battery? any idea how long the battery goes in a stretch?

This runs both regular electric or 4 D size batteries last for days. It's just little loud.

I Always keep some of these around. You can hang them on a bucket to transport fish also

If you needed something ASAP. Walmart carries a battery operated pump in their sporting goods section.

I should,for now ordered some from DrFostersmith and picked few Marina brand from lfs.

Those are what I have used, they are cheap and they work.

I tried the PennPlax, had it plugged in in case of emergency outage. Only one of the two outlets had air coming out. After one week, plugged in, the air flow went from strong to weak and the unit got louder and louder. I got a replacement, but will only use it if the power goes out. It claims to run 5 days on 4 D Batteries.

With The Price of Inverters so low these days, I would suggest having one. Battery powered pumps are okay, but if you hook an inverter to your cars battery you can run your standard pumps, and also many other things like filters....possibly even a heater. takes moments to hook up to a car battery and the smaller ones that go into the car lighter outlet should be sufficient for alot of airpumps at the minimum. I prefer the car battery direct ones that run @ 750-1000 watts.

Its a sound investment for those looking for power in an outage , but not able to afford or run a generator.

I have this same pump and I drove a total of 11 hours with the same batteries. Worked great.
