New to discus, would love beginner advice.

I've been in the hobby for a very long time. I've kept everything from marine reefs to flowerhorns to geophagus. I've decided to settle in and finally take the leap I've been wanting to take for many years. I have a 120g with 3 XP4's filtering it. They have been running together in that particular tank for 5 years. Currently my stocking is a large flowerhorn pair (waiting to be rehomed), 3-7" clown loaches, a small group of albino cory's, pair of mated BN plecos, and a pair of blue mountain loaches. Once the FH's are rehomed I am looking to stock with 10 Discus. If that is too many please let me know.

1. Is there a certain species to begin with?
2. My pH is around 6.4.....OK?
3. What temp do you guys keep?
4. Food?
5. Best tankmates, shoaling wise? cardinals, rummynose, harlequins?
6. Best place to purchase? I am in South Jersey and can go to Maryland, Hans and Gwynnbrook.

Any other advice you guys have for me would be great. I intend on using mostly fake plants unless you guys have some other suggestions. THANKS !!!!!!

I have a 120g tall and use screens on the top as I enjoy the humidifier aspect of the tank, I top it off often. I don't mind having the heaters work a lil overtime. I currently have a 200 and a 300w fluval. I have kept it at 79'. Im not sure they can keep up with a 83' environment. Do you guys suggest a certain in tank heater. I saw the 400w aquatop with a digital thermometer and a separate thermostat.

I like the titanium heater with controller. During winter,I have 2x 300W in my tank to temp stable. Summer turn 1 off.

What brand of titanium heater. Are they're any on Ebay to avoid?

i use this controller with these mixed/matched heaters (ex: 120G tank i use 2x 300W and 180G tank i use 1x 300W + 1x 500W)

Funny I thought I was the only one who like the humidifying of a tank! I have a 300 gallon open top that loses 10 gallons a day to evaporation and I have a 1000W heat bar that is set at 86 deg and is constantly on - water temp is 83-84. I try to top it off daily, and vacuum the substrate every other day, along with a weekly 30% water change and it's been good for 6 months so far.
