Can you guys please advise me on where to place my power head? Also, should it be directed upward to the surface? Kris

You can point it toward the surface if you need surface agitation. But why are you using a power head??????

I have a a canister filter and a sponge filter in a 55gal. The canister filter has a spray bar outlet and I have that angled to cause surface agitation. Even so - I still have a corner that doesn't get much movement and garbage collect there (I have plants with roots hanging in the tank) so I put my powerhead in that corner, 1 inch below the water line and angled to the surface. Problem solved for me Kris.

Power heads (depending on size) can create too much current for discus. They will always hide away from the current.

What size tank and how many discus are in it? Do you want the power head for water circulation? If so get a spray bar. It will distribute the water over a larger surface area and the discus won't get so agitated.

I'm using a power head because it was suggested to me. I use a 350 penguin hob, 2 air stones, and 1 large sponge filter, in my 60 gallon tank, which houses 4 adult discus, 2 juvies, 3 Bolivian rams, and 2 bn placos!!

I think it was suggested , due to my discus that have gill damage. You may remember that issue in earlier threads of mine!
Do you think it will be a benefit to them?

It will have no benefit to discus..............

Sometimes people will say things just to sell products you don't really need. Sounds like you already have adequate water movement so I wouldn't waste the money on one for the reason of gill damage.

I have a can on a 55 gal and it will be coming off soon. I just bought two sponge filters for it instead. And yes, they are not big fans of the amount of current it is kicking out.
