Enrofloxacin, also known as Baytril, is made by Bayer Pharmaceuticals. It is a fluoroquinolon antibiotic also knows as Ciprofloxacin (Cipro) for humans. This is a thrid generation antiobiotic and is the most advanced antibiotic approved for use in tropical fish. It often begins working in 30 minutes and is a highly recommended antibiotic. Enrofloxacin has demonstrated a significant post-antibiotic effect for both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria and is active in both stationary and growth phases of bacterial replication.
Use for:
Aeromonas Salmonicida
Gram Pos. Bacteria
Gram Neg. Bacteria
Brooklynella
Amyloodinium Ocellatum
Uronema
Cryptocaryon
Dosage 1: 20g/1000gal, 25% water change after each dose. Continue treatment for 10 days. Works out to be .02g or 20mg/gal. Dosage suggested by supplier, Fishman Chemical, LLC
Dosage 2: 5mg/L for 24 hours, or 10mg/L for 12 hours. Repeat every 3-4 days for 3-4 times.(Dosage from Fish Vetting Medicines, Formulary of Fish Treatments, Dr. Loh)
Dosage 3: Directions: 25mg/3.3 gallons (2mg/litre) of water. Treat for five consecutive days with 24 hours between dosing, and a 50% water change between daily treatment. Suggested treatment from Thomas Labs.
I bought a Kg of this medication because price wise it worked out to be a lot cheaper since I wanted to treat a 600 gallon tank. I was hoping someone here might also want some since I really do not need this much. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
