I'm nearly done changing over a 140 gallon reef tank to a discus tank. What i've decided to do is take one of the bulkheads (located in a back corner) And put a strainer on a 4" nipple on the bulkhead inside the tank. On the bottom inside the cabinet i'm going to put a valve with a hose bib on it. I'm thinking when it's time to drain off water for a water change I can hook a hose to it, run it out the door and quickly empty the amount of water needed for the change. Does anyone see any potential problems with this.

That will work perfectly, actually I have a few tanks exactly as you describe.

Just don't forget that you are draining the tank. :)

It isn't a turn on and walk away thing. When the amount you want to change has drained you shut the valve.
