A couple months ago I posted, what do discus look like when they get old. Here is an up date on that fish, since I seperated him from the other young discus he has made a full recovery! Of course a lot of his color has faded with time but he's healthy as ever. As to those haters accusing me of neglecting my 10 year old discus because I do only 1 to 2 water changes a week, see u were wrong!

I am so glad you did not cull him. I am happy this was a success story. Kudos to you for helping him through this. Sometimes a little TLC goes a long way.

Glad he's better. Is he alone now? What kind of tank is he in?

Nice save.
I don't think "old" discus at ten years have to be faded in color. This fish is pushing 12 years old (not mine) and seems to be in good color.

Yea he's by himself in a 37 tall tank and all the others r in my 110 T. He has no friends because with my experience 2 or 3 discus don't do as well together to territorial. That's probly what happened to him in the first place. I dont want to keep 2tanks so I might introduce him to the larger tank and see how he does. He never had the best color as he was just my first discus ever bought at the local fish store. But he's a tough ol *******
Thank you for the kind words! And I am guessing culling him is another word for sticking him in the freezer and letting him dye.

Good to see fishes living so long. They spend so much time with you. My oldest fish in the discus tanks are not discus, but 7 year old cories, lol. Those cories are always hiding, but they come out once in awhile to let you know they are still alive.

The 37 has been his home for years, I took the others out and put them in the 110 . That's all did, no meds, nothin.

Remarkable before and after pics! So, I'm also curious about what caused the distress. Apparently all he needed was not to be around the other fish. How long was he with those other fish, and what brought about his poor condition? -Don
