Just Sharing Some LFS Discus

Went to a local fish store today, saw some nice discus. Took some photos using my phone, just sharing.

Quite big, adult ship 5-6 inches. USD22 per fish. Was tempting, but didn't get any, as my tank are full. So doing just some windows shopping...

Below are selling in pair, not sure if they are proven pair, but LFS is selling them in pair at USD100 per pair.

Here in the States those fish would have been long gone before anyone could have taken pictures of them. Some pretty decent looking fish among them, especially at that price. I think you really want a couple of them. If you look close at the pictures you can see your hand about to lift them out. :) You seem particularly interested in the fish in the 3rd and 6th shots.

You are so very right! I spent an hour there observing the discus...almost took the net and get them out of the tank myself...and finally decided just to get them onto my phone... :p

There are 3 that I wanted to get if my tank has extra space for them...and they are No 3, No 5 and No 6!

If you can only choose ONE, which one will you take?

A lot of personal choice goes into that, but I think I prefer 3. At least in your pictures it's shape looks a little better to me.

Thanks Keith! I was actually paying more attention on the pattern than shape, but I guess you are right. No 3 seems to have the most rounded shape. :)

From the photos, can you identify which is male and which is female?

I'm not at all good at sexing discus. If you want my nearly wild guess, looking at the dorsals, I'd guess 3 and 5 are female and 6 male.

I saw some discus at my LFS today. The biggest were maybe 3 inches, looked like pigeon blood non-pigeon blood crosses full of peppering, where shaped like squares sitting on a corner/point, and were $39 each.

It sure is expensive in the States and no wonder why SD forum not recommending members buying from LFS.

I am so tempted to go and get the 3 Pigeon Blood discus now... :p
