Be aware that aquatraders sells a lot of Chinese junk that does not last long. Basically the old addage you get what you pay for applies.

You will need more light with the foster and smith's Current models. The other I do not know.

I would check with THE PLANTED TANK forum, they may have more info. on lights. You can also try KensFish, an SD sponsor for what they carry and they may or not be able to answer questions. Also with Kens sometimes they get right back to you and sometimes they do not. You can also call Drs Forster and Smith but I do not know how much information they can give you.

It depends on what you want them for. Are you gonna try to grow plants? Then I'd say no but if it's just barebottom then it would be fine. The cheaper led lights are cheaper for a reason. If you want to grow plants you'll have to spend some more money

Its all about the watts.these are .5,which is fine for bare bottom,or on my 180,I have a 48" towards the front for a little more light.I have had no problem with beamsworks.check e-bay,I have found them cheaper there.
Just read the add again, and have found those on e-bay closer to $50 with free shipping.

I have 16 of the beam work LED lights and have had them two years now without issue (ok one small issue the little transformer/adapter on one failed, cost 5 bucks to replace). I would wager that the current USA Led's are made in china as well, or at the minimum are made from chinese led's.

There is another old adage " A **** and his money are soon parted".

I'll let u know tomorrow where it's made and what type of led
But I believe current is made in USA

The correct term here would be assembled in the USA. IME the beamworks LED's are a great value for the money, can't comment on the use in a planted tank however, but then again you will never see any dam plant in one of my tanks! ;)

I personally use the Current Freshwater LED Plus for my wilds tank and get them at Kens Fish. current-satellite-plus-freshwater-led (http://www.kensfish.com/aquarium-supplies/aquarium-lighting/current-satellite-plus-freshwater-led-48-60-inch.html). The longest I have had them is a year without any issues. The video below is way I like them for a wilds tank.

I have had other current lighting over my reef tank (MH with moon lights) and had no issues with that either.

Hey Ronald, the light weights very little and can sit right on the glass canopy.

I absolutely love all of the effects that the Current Freshwater LED Plus has! It's been on my wish list for months. Luckily, I'm going to be getting one for my discus tank in the next few weeks. I didn't know they were available through kensfish - Thanks Second Hand Pat!

Current led is the way to go.. But if you have a 24" wide tank you might need two strip to spread it out evenlyp
