I have personally always preferred Hydor heaters and have kept the heater OUTSIDE of the tank. I have owned about 6 of them and none have ever failed me.

I like AquaTop dual digital. I do not know how good they are but they display tank temp and set temp of heater. Very easy to read!

I also love the Hydor heaters, put in line with a canister filter. It's great being able to adjust the temperature without pulling out a wet heater, just spinning a dial. And they have been the most reliable heaters I have ever owned.

I've used the very reliable Eheim Jaeger calibrated heaters for years. When I got back into discus, it was one of the few heaters that went up to a max. heat limit of 93 F.
Never tried Hydor as they weren't available here when I needed them. Will give them a go some day.

On my 125g I use the JEHMCO 500w Titanium Heater with Controller. On my sick tank (29g), I use Eheim Jager Thermostatic Heater 150w. I've also plugged in (2) 250w Eheim Jager Heaters to the Controller & had equal success. Not familiar w/ Fluval E series. "T"

Hydor for an outside/inline heater for canister filters. Cobalt Neo-Therm inside....so thin you could stick them inside your HOB filters if you use them. Very durable and I find them to be consistent.

Hydor. And Jagers but Jagers are so inconsistent I've found now, I don't like them at all anymore. I use them to heat my water for my SW water changes or to hold fish short term in other tanks and thats it.

I've used 5 Jager heaters on 3 discus tanks for nearly 5 years, and never had a hint of a problem.

My experience has been that none of these heaters are reliable after 18 mths and if they last that long you are lucky. The old jagers would last forever but I guess they saved a buck and made them cheaper. My experience with the Aqueon heaters have been ok. If I get two years out of them without the heater switch staying on then I am doing good. The Aqueon 300 watt heaters are a good price and they have a lifetime guaranteed.

I put some effort into buying a case at wholesale price but I did not have any luck.

The Hydors I have used never failed and I used all of them for well over 2 years each on various tanks.

Same. These by far are the most consistent heaters I used. Thats why they are the only choice for inline IMO.
