Hi,

I have 6 discus 2.5 each in 30 gallons.
I make everyday 90% WC and I feed them tetra discus and mix BH.

I'll fly next week for some business meetings so I'll be unable to CW for one week.
I have an automatic feeder so I can feed them but I'm not sure if better not to do so and to keep the water clean for the entire week...

Thank you for any advise!

If I were you, I would give them a big WC before leaving, and then set the auto feeder to give them about 1/3 what they normally get, or even less, but give them something while you're gone. Not too much. then of course a big WC when you return. Just my opinion.

Don is correct, IMO I would do a large water change, and then I would only give them food every other day only once a day.

Hi Skip,
For sure ill do one big WC before I'm living.
So you say to not put aut. Feeder? Not to feed them at all?

if you have to leave fish alone .. they will be ok.. its safer.. IMO.. than to pay the $30-$50 for an autofeeder..

they would be just fine.. if you already have one.. use it i guess.. but i would not go out and buy one just for this..

This is my routine for a week long trip:
Feed lightly for the 3 days leading up to the trip
Do not feed the day of the trip
Do a 95% w/c the day of trip
Turn off the light
Turn on a seperate light somewhere in the room
Leave
No feeding while I am gone
Wondering how my fish are doing every day I am gone
Get back and rush to my tank in suspense
Fish come to the front of the tank suspecting a feeding
Check the temp and realize everything is ok
Turn on the tank light for about an hour then feed favorite food
Do a 95% w/c the day after I return
