View Full Version : Broken Python Brass Adapter

Today I connected my Python hose to my faucet the same way I've always done it, using the brass adapter that came in the package with. After cleaning and refilling my breeding tank I attempted to remove the brass adapter from my sink. I tried it all, gloves, heating it, cooling it, wrenches, whispering sweet nothings with zero success. I completely understand brittle fracture and plastic deformation since I work with nuclear reactors with the navy but I was not prepared for what happened next... My final attempt I had a pickle jar opener for additional grip, ensured I was twisting in the correct direction, and gave it one last shot. The brass completely sheared off leaving the bottom half in my hand, the threads still stuck in the faucet and my jaw dropped to the floor. Has anyone had this happen to them? Any ideas on how to remove the remaining threads from the faucet, needle nose pliers didn't work, or am I forced to replace the whole faucet? To clarify, the threads in the faucet needed to screw the aerator back in are filled with the brass that was once the adapter. Back to the gravel cleaner and 5 gallon bucket for now. All help, suggestions or jokes are welcome and appreciated.
